Spring Fling Returns Minus Annual Egg Hunt

Published: March 4th, 2021 in Activities

It won’t be the same as usual, but King Farm is moving forward with our 10th Annual Spring Fling event!  This year will not feature the annual egg hunt on the lawn; however, we will “Hop into Spring” on Saturday, March 27, 2021, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Hoppers the Bunny will return for photos with all just outside the Saddle Ridge Community Center (300 Saddle Ridge Circle) and registered children will receive a goodie bag, and other fun treats!  Due to space limitations, this event is open to King Farm residents only, sorry no non-resident outside guests, friends, or relatives permitted.

Due to current COVID-19 gathering restrictions, this event will be held outside (rain or shine, but the Bunny will be undercover!) and residents must pre-register for a time slot for this event.  Neighbors will be asked to socially distance themselves while standing in line and all must wear a mask.

To register, please e-mail [email protected]  and include the following information:

  • Name
  • Address
  • How many children will be attending
  • Pick a time slot: 11:00 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:00 p.m. or 12:30 p.m.

Need Help Shoveling Snow?

Management continues to receive calls from residents seeking individuals who are willing to assist with clearing snow and ice from the sidewalks around their home. Management received names of a few individuals who are interested in helping shovel snow (as a volunteer or as a paid service). If you are willing to assist others, Management will retain your information and provide it to individuals who request assistance. All arrangements are the responsibility of the respective parties. Neither King Farm Citizens Assembly nor Management vet individuals or coordinate services.

PLEASE NOTE: Individuals providing services are neither sponsored nor recruited by KFCA. Management is sharing this information with the community due to the continued inquiries and requests for assistance.

Pet Waste Collection – Please Scoop the Poop!

This is a friendly reminder to please pick-up after your pet. Pet waste receptacles are located throughout the community for the benefit of the residents and to help maintain cleanliness.

Due to increased usage, pet waste stations are collected every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Please do not place other trash in the pet waste stations. We continue to collect yard waste and other trash from the pet stations. If bins are full, please dispose of pet waste in your home trash cans.

We also continue to receive complaints about people allowing pets to defecate on private property. Not every homeowner is a pet owner, so please be respectful of private property.

RockView Security Camera Registration System

The Rockville City Police Department is committed to its partnership with the community. The RockView program allows residents and business owners to voluntarily register their privately-owned video security camera systems with the RCPD. Registration is voluntary, there is no cost associated with registering and registering does not provide the RCPD with direct access to a camera. Community members can opt-out at any time.

Registration in the RockView program does not enable law enforcement to view camera footage without an owner’s permission. However, the RockView program will allow city police to quickly identify security cameras that may have captured criminal activity when a crime is reported nearby. Once a camera is identified, police will contact the owner and ask if they would examine the date and time in question for potential leads in the investigation. The owner may accept or deny the request for assistance. If the owner accepts, and their equipment captured pertinent information, police would arrange a convenient way to retrieve the information. Information provided to the RCPD about camera systems will be for official police use only. Owners’ personal information will not be distributed except as required by law or court order. Information submitted may be disclosed if requested per the Maryland Public Information Act.

The goal of the RockView program is to deter crime and promote public safety through collaboration between the RCPD and the community we serve. Accordingly, all registrants agree to the following terms and conditions: Any footage containing or related to criminal activity may be collected by the Rockville City Police Department for use as evidence during any stage of a criminal proceeding. Under no circumstances shall registrants construe that they are acting as an agent and/or employee of the City of Rockville and/or the Rockville City Police Department through the program. If necessary, the Rockville City Police Department will contact camera owners directly, using information provided on this website, to request the appropriate video footage. To register our security camera, please visit https://www.rockvillemd.gov/2247/Security-Camera-Registration

City of Rockville Planning Commission to Hold Public Hearing on Annexation

Dear Rockville Community,

I hope you are doing well. I would like to invite you to a very important meeting. Rockville’s Planning Commission is scheduled to hold a virtual public hearing, Wednesday, Feb. 10, on a proposal to annex almost 10.3 acres of land at 16200 Frederick Road. The Mayor and Council initiated annexation proceedings at their meeting in November. The annexation was initiated through a petition to the city by Victor, Inc., the property’s owner, with a request to zone the area as mixed-use corridor district.

Annexation is the formal process of incorporating an area outside of the city’s jurisdiction into its municipal boundaries. To be eligible, the property must be within the city’s maximum expansion limits, as identified in the adopted Municipal Growth Element of the Comprehensive Plan, and adjacent to city limits. The proposal must go through several steps before approval.

The public hearing will begin at 7 pm. The Mayor and Council will hold a public hearing before making a final decision.  View the Preliminary Annexation Plan here.  To testify at the public hearing, which will be held virtually, email [email protected] before 4 pm. on the day to be placed on the speakers list. Spoken testimony is limited to three minutes for individuals, or five minutes if representing a group.

Submitted written testimony to the Planning Commission via [email protected], or by mail, c/o Manisha Tewari, 111 Maryland Ave., Rockville, MD 20850.  Contact Manisha Tewari at [email protected] or 240-314-8213 for more information.
